The 21st General Assembly Meeting of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) will be held in Kazan from October 26 to 28, 2026.
About the Event
SMIIC (Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries) was established under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to develop unified standards (particularly Halal standards) for member states, as well as to ensure quality and protect consumers.
The organisation was established in 1999 and brings together dozens of countries, working to harmonise standards across various sectors ranging from food products to metrology. Currently, 48 states from Asia and Africa are members of SMIIC. In 2019, the Russian Federation joined SMIIC as an observer.
The preliminary programme for the 2026 meeting includes the following events:
- Meeting of the Finance and Strategy Committee (October 26) – Millennium Panorama Hotel;
- 32nd Meeting of the SMIIC Board of Directors (October 27) – Kazan City Hall;
- 21st Meeting of the SMIIC General Assembly (October 28) – Millennium Panorama Hotel.
